Season 5 of NBC’s hit show, “This Is Us,” premiered a two hour episode on October 27. The show has done extremely well since its pilot in 2016. The star studded-cast, including Milo Ventimiligia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Justin Hartley, and more, has moved the emotions of watchers since the beginning.
The show tells the story of a white family living in Pittsburgh. The series circles around the lives of the children of the family, twins (Kate and Kevin) and an adopted black son (Randall). Each child has their own story, and the show very cleverly intertwines each of their lives to create a family favorite.
First time watchers might be slightly confused about the show; the series includes frequent flashbacks and looks into the future. However, the writers and directors of the show have done amazingly well tying everything together, leaving the audience with jaws on the floor.
Family is definitely the theme of the show: Each character is invested in the lives of their family members. The characters in the show deal with many relatable issues in life, love, and family. For that reason alone, the show appeals to such a diverse audience; almost anyone can find something to connect to from the writing.
The show is more than touching and has plenty of tear jerking moments. But just as engaging, are its moments of mystery. From the past, to the present, to the future, and back again, the smallest details of the show leave the audience guessing. The series is incredibly well crafted, and little to say that it is highly recommended.
All episodes of the series are available on Hulu. The next episode of “This Is Us” premieres November 10 on NBC. It is indeed the perfect show to binge on your down time, so get to watching!
