Leesville Road High School has many clubs. One of the new clubs for the ‘23-’24 school year is the Mock Trial Club.
Sydney Flowers, senior and founder of the Mock Trial Club, became inspired to create the club after interning with a lawyer.
“I created this club to help students who are interested in law expand their knowledge and also help them with their public speaking and court skills,” said Flowers.
Flowers wanted to start the club because she realized that unlike other schools, Leesville did not have a Mock Trial Club. Flowers said, “I was talking to this girl I know who goes to a different high school, and in her high school they had mock trial, and I realized we didn’t have that here, so I figured I might as well start it.”
A large crowd turned out to the Mock Trial Club interest meeting, with many of the students showing a desire to join the club. Most students in attendance were interested in law, which was a driving force of most of the turnout.
If you are interested in joining the Mock Trial Club, meetings will be in room 125 on the second and fourth Thursday of every month. Meetings will begin around 14:30 (2:30 PM) and last around 30 minutes.
