Leesville Welcomes Incoming Freshmen

On August 23, 2024, Leesville held a Freshmen Orientation event for the incoming 2028 class. The event lasted all morning and gave the new students an introduction to their new school.

At the event, freshmen walked their schedules for the fall semester, met their teachers, and learned the ins and outs of the school. Then, they attended a pep rally and had ice cream from NC State’s Howling Cow ice cream shop. To wrap it up, they received their Chromebooks and explored the campus.

June Noyes, freshman, attended the event. “I learned about advisory and where my classes were,” said Noyes.

The LRHS Liaisons helped facilitate the event. The Liaisons are a group of students who make new members of the Pride feel at home, giving many school tours throughout the year.

Evie Morgan, senior, is a Liaison. “My job was to stand in front of the main stairs. I had a sign that said I was a Liaison and I helped people find where they were going.”.

Freshmen have a lot to adjust to entering high school, and a lot of anxiety goes with that, but Morgan has some advice to calm nervous minds.

“[High school] is never that deep. Whatever happens, it’ll be fine… It has been a lot of fun and I’ve met a lot of people and changed a lot,” said Morgan.

The Freshman Orientation provided plentiful information, but there is still much for freshmen to learn. New students should have an open mind as they start high school, and, most importantly, enjoy the experience.
