On Thursday, Sep 26, 2024 the new Art Service Club officers held the club interest meeting in Room 1204.

During the meeting, the officers presented a short slide show explaining the club’s mission, activities, and requirements.

Originally, Art Service Club was a club in which people could collect service hours by participating in specific art-related activities. These activities ranged from making holiday cards for residents at local nursing homes to painting landscapes for hospice patients at WakeMed Hospital.

The new club officers plan to maintain the original goals and activities of the club. “We want to make sure people have plenty of opportunities to get service hours in a fun way through the club,” said Katie Carrigan, president.

Since its start, Art Service Club has been one of the most popular clubs at LRHS.

Students appreciate how easy it is to join the club and enjoy the creative projects needed for service hours.

“The [projects] are always so fun and easy to do and you don’t even have to finish them within the meeting period. You can literally take it home and bring it back at the next meeting and get your service hours,” said Clara Davis, senior.

For students such as Davis who are involved in multiple honors societies, having a club that offers a quick and simple way to get service hours is extremely helpful.

These opportunities and more were discussed during the interest meeting. If you are interested in joining Art Service Club but weren’t able to attend the meeting, you can find the slides here.
