LRHS Art Service Club Valentines Day Special

For Valentine’s Day, the Art Service Club made origami flowers for an elderly home. The club members hope to bring joy to those on this holiday.

Small, kind and uplifting notes were attached to the flowers. Each flower took about twenty to thirty minutes to make. The club meeting lasted for an hour so everyone made one or two flowers.

Aida Shingler, sophomore, said, “We’ve made maybe 30 flowers. They take a while to make but it’s easy when you get the hang of it.”

The Art Service Club made the origami flowers in advance, because their next meeting will be after Valentine’s Day. Now, they can give the flowers to the elderly on Valentine’s Day.

The goal for this act of kindness is to make the older people feel loved on this special holiday.

Kiera Dillion, senior, said, “I think that the people that are getting the flowers are going to be happy because some of them don’t have people to love them. I think it would be nice to show them that they are loved.”

Shingler said, “It makes me feel good to know that we are making them happy. It was so easy too.”

These flowers were an easy way to bring joy to the people who need it most.
