All juniors at Leesville Road High School will take the ACT on Thursday March 13, 2025. The school will administer the ACT, and the test will be free for all students on this date.
Students can access test prep materials via multiple options. TestNav, an application on WCPSS Chromebooks, has several ACT practice tests. Edgenuity, an application in the Wake ID portal, has prep courses for every ACT sub-topic.
Students can access this document for more information about test prep, including how to access TestNav and Edgenuity.
Evie Morgan, senior, focused on the ACT instead of the SAT in terms of test scores, so she has some tips for upcoming test takers.
“Study the formulas for math specifically. Especially the geometry ones, like the areas of all the different shapes. For the grammar part, when in doubt, don’t use a comma,” said Morgan.
Ms. White, English teacher at LRHS, also has some general testing advice.
“Go to the ACT website and familiarize yourself with what is expected of you. It’s helpful to know what the test format is, so that is a way to prepare,” said White.
It is good to take advantage of the school administration of the test for several reasons.
“I didn’t have to get a ride, I didn’t have to use my Saturday, and it was free. Also, you’re comfortable in your own school,” said Morgan.
“I think it’s beneficial because it is a graduation requirement. We are providing the opportunity for students to take it for free, and that includes everyone. Regardless of if students are thinking about going off to college, I like that we provide it for everyone and that evens the playing field,” said White.
LRHS juniors should have received an email from Ms. Arwood, Testing Coordinator at Leesville, a couple of weeks ago with testing information. They will receive another email from her in the weeks leading up to the test, containing more instructions.Contact Arwood with any testing questions at karwood@wcpss.net.
