A new up and coming coffee shop, Bad Cat Coffee Co., has soft launched their business in the Raleigh area. Located at 6505 Westgate Rd, Suite 101, Raleigh, Bad Cat Coffee is near the airport, reasonably close to the Brier Creek area, and eight minutes from Leesville.
Bad Coffee is a family-owned business, and all their coffee is roasted in Raleigh. Their first location, in Morgan Food Hall downtown, originally started as a coffee bean roastery, but then turned into a coffee shop and then upgraded to selling breakfast foods too. Now Bad Cat Coffee Co. has branched out to create a second roastery and coffee shop location.
With minimal advertising, Bad Cat Coffee has soft launched their new expenditure as they work out the kinks of the new coffee shop. Although Bad Cat Coffee doesn’t have an official sign on the building yet, they have several yard signs locating the store from the main road, as seen in the photo above.
While the inside of the coffee shop was still a work in progress, the nice guy at the counter made amazing coffee. Could this coffee shop be the new NoRa?
Along with selling coffee, Bad Cat Coffee sells different trinkets, stickers, jewelry, and merch in their windows. Bad Cat Cafe even offers a hole punch loyalty program as seen in the photo above. After buying 10 coffee’s/lattes you get a free one, and the loyalty program also works at the other Bad Cat Coffee locations too.
I ordered an iced caramel latte, and I rate the coffee a 8.5/10. The coffee was smooth and the flavoring was mixed with no sediments. While the coffee was much better than a Starbucks drink, the coffee wasn’t anything particularly astonishing. Overall, the coffee was enjoyable, and I would definitely return, it was worth the drive and money. Although the coffee wasn’t life changing, it was consistent and favorable.
Although the atmosphere of the Bad Cat Cafe needed improvement to create a cozy place to sit and do work, it’s only a soft launch of their new business opening. I would recommend Bad Cat Coffee to anyone, and I would highly suggest supporting a small business as they get a signup and finish making improvements.
