In North Carolina, juniors must take the ACT (American College Test). This standardized test measures mathematics, reading, and writing skills and is used for college admissions.
The test has 4 parts: English (grammar), reading, mathematics, and science. The grammar section is 75 questions with 45 allotted minutes. The math section has 60 questions in 60 minutes. The reading comprehension and science sections each consist of 40 questions to be completed in 35 minutes.
Juniors at Leesville will take the online ACT on Thursday, March 13th at 7:25 AM.
Each junior received an email from Ms. Arwood (LRHS testing coordinator). The email consisted of assigned room numbers, and expectations, including that a WCPSS Chromebook, student ID, are required materials for testing. Number 2 pencils, a calculator, and a snack are highly recommended items to bring.
Although the ACT is later this week, juniors still have the opportunity to study for the exam. Students may own prep books to assist them or have tutors, but studying does not have to be an expensive activity. The ACT website offers plenty of free resources. Youtube videos, TikTok educators, and other online resources are also great options for last minute review.
Before Thursday, juniors should check their email to review expectations and requirements for the exam.
While juniors are completing their exam, freshmen, sophomores, and seniors will have an altered bell schedule.
1st period: 7:25 AM – 9:10 AM
2nd period: 9:17 AM – 11:02 AM
