Second semester has kicked off, marking the beginning of the home stretch for Leesville seniors. With college applications behind them and graduation on the horizon, there are many traditions seniors have to look forward to this spring semester.
One of the most anticipated traditions of the second semester? Senior Assassin: a high-stakes game that is completely organized by students and unaffiliated with Leesville.
How it Works
This year’s game, run by Carson Thorne and Emma Derucher, launches on April 7. The game is simple but has important rules to ensure safety and enjoyment for all participants.
Nothing in life is free and neither is participation in the game. This year the participation fee has been raised to ten dollars per person. This fee does contribute to the hefty cash prize for the winners. All cash payments are due by March 28 at 7:00 P.M. to Emma Derucher. All online payments are due by midnight on April 4, to Carson Thorne through Venmo. More detailed instructions will be posted closer to the payment deadlines.
Payments will open closer to the kickoff date, and students looking to participate should keep an eye on the @lrhsassassin Instagram account.
While information is easily accessible through the Instagram account, the game is mostly played and operated through Snapchat. The Senior Assassin Rule Document states that players must use Snapchat to participate in the game.
Senior assassin isn’t just a fun way to kill time. Senior assassin is a beloved tradition at Leesville. In a recent poll posted on the @lrhsnews Instagram account 63% of seniors reported that they will be participating, showcasing the game’s popularity.
While the anticipation for the hunt is on the rise amongst seniors, they should keep in mind that Senior Assassin is a time commitment, as it may last for weeks. So prior to paying the non-refundable participation fee, seniors should check their calendars and ensure they have enough time allotted to spraying their friends with water-based weapons every week.
