2000/2010’s TV shows are the best

The 2000’s and 2010’s were a fantastic time for TV shows. Shows like Gossip Girl, Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, and Grey’s Anatomy became famous and are still extremely popular. I believe that shows from this time period are the best and most entertaining media, and many people agree.

I love shows from this time period for many reasons- the plots, the characters, the actors who play the characters, and the way life was at the time.

Directors and writers for shows wanted to make the viewer feel a deeper connection and be able to relate to the show they’re watching. By doing this, it drew viewers in and still does today.

Kaleigh Arnett, sophomore, said, “I absolutely love shows from this time… they have a lot of characters that are relatable and go through everyday common occurrences from all over the world. For example, like with the show Gilmore Girls–it gives a realistic perspective about the life of a young, single mom raising her daughter and going through natural life events together.”

Directors and writers were also very good at making characters that people could relate to or who inspired them, leading people to get attached and love characters. This makes people continue to watch the show to see what happens to the characters.

Grey’s Anatomy is my absolute favorite TV show. I love the characters so much… It has so much drama and such a good plot. When Derek Shepherd died, a piece of me died. It was the saddest episode of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ or even any show I have ever watched, I bawled my eyes out for hours,” Arnett said.

Lyla Ferguson, sophomore, said, “In One Tree Hill, when Dan killed Keith, his own brother, it was insane. That episode had the most crazy plot and it was just an insane story. I love that show so much. It’s by far my favorite.

Shows from this time period also introduce new dynamics that we don’t see in life often. Some shows have extreme high school drama and events that are uncommon, making them very entertaining.

Ferguson said, “Shows from this time are my favorite because I feel like they show a way of life that we don’t see often. For example, in the TV show Gossip Girls, they are all extremely rich and living life in the upper east side. It’s really cool to see because it is fun to imagine life like that and see how different lifestyles are of people.”

Kids like to watch shows like Gossip Girl or All American because it shows high school students who are the same age as us having a different high school experience than we are used to. These shows allow us to step into these characters’ places and experience what their daily life is like for them.

Lucas Ceccino, sophomore, said, “My favorite show is ‘All American’. It shows a story of an underdog who lived in a poorer area and is really good at football. He gets the opportunity to play at a nicer highschool in Beverly Hills with wealthy kids, and it shows the dynamic between him and kids who grew up differently than him. It’s very powerful and cool to see.”Overall, TV shows from 2000 to 2010 are the best because they introduced creative storylines and memorable characters. Shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Gilmore Girls, and All American were different from what came before, offering new types of drama and comedy that people loved and still love to this day. They also deal with real-life issues and make viewers feel connected to the characters. The shows from this time helped shape TV made today.
